How to Boil The Perfect Egg

This is a repeat from last Easter, but one worth repeating for those of you who “can’t even boil an egg.”

The joke at my house used to be that my dad was so clueless in the kitchen that he couldn’t even boil an egg.  Well, now I know that even the most kitchen savvy folks might have a hard time boiling an egg.  Every year at this time, I find myself googling “boiling eggs.”  This year is no different and I want to share my findings with you.

This comes from  PLACE eggs in a saucepan large enough to hold them in a single layer.  ADD cold water to cover eggs by 1 inch.  HEAT over high heat just to boiling.  REMOVE from burner.  COVER pan.  Let eggs STAND in hot water for about 15 minutes.  DRAIN immediately and cool completely under cold running water, then REFRIGERATE.

And there you have it – the perfectly boiled egg.

Hey, I’ve found, if you add about an 8th cup of salt to the boiling water, it helps the egg shell not stick to the egg. It doesn’t change the flavor of the egg at all. It really works.
