There seems to be a new movement. It’s green smoothies. My BFF, Marguerite, swears by them. She’s even managed to almost convince me. After a little research, it’s clear she isn’t the only one out there swearing by them.
Green smoothies are exactly that. Smoothies made with green food, well green vegetables, not lime jello. This is a great way to get your daily serving of green vegetables all at one time. Some are even calling it “A Health Miracle” with benefits that include: fighting cancer and diabetes, and losing weight.
There are lots of recipes out there, so I recommend finding one that will suit your family. This is the one I’ll be trying from thegreensmoothiechallenge.com.
- 6 – 8 oz. spinach
- 1 pear
- 1 1/2 cups mixed berry blend, frozen
- 1 handful frozen peaches
- 1 inch piece of ginger with skin on
- 2 dates
- 4 scoops stevia
Place all ingredients in blender and fill blender with water. Mix until liquified.
I’m guessing it’s not rocket science. Just a fun way to incorporate fruits and vegetables into your very hectic schedule. You can even stick a straw in these and drink them on the go.
