The Healing Powers of Honey

Honey has always been used for medicinal purposes, but only in the last 100 years has its antibacterial abilities come to light.  It’s high ratio of sugar to water keeps microorganisms from penetrating their way through moisture.  It also contains an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide.

While everyone’s heard that honey can soothe a sore throat, studies show that some varieties may also help treat gingivitis, yeast infections, and burns.

Here are a few other uses you might find surprising…

Fever blister – When you feel one coming on, apply raw honey to the area several times a day.

Bee sting – Apply honey directly to the area.

Constipation – Add 1 Tablespoon of honey to a 12 oz glass of lukewarm water.  Drink on an empty stomach.

Now you have even more reasons to keep honey on hand.
